Dr Arish Mudra Rakshasa-Loots, Principal Investigator
I am a KJCF Quest Fellow in Brain Health & Multimorbidity and Chair of the British Neuroscience Association’s EDI Advisory Board.
I was born and raised in Ghaziabad, India, which is where I completed my secondary education. I then completed a BA in Biochemistry, Neuroscience, and Ancient & Classical Studies at Earlham College (USA), PhD in Translational Neuroscience at the University of Edinburgh (UK), MLitt in Creative Writing at the University of Glasgow (UK), and postdoctoral research in the UKRI Hub for Metabolic Psychiatry at Edinburgh. Before starting my research career, I also held a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship through which I worked with HIV healthcare organisations around the globe. I have lived and worked in numerous countries on six continents, and this global experience shapes my approach to science, writing, and advocacy.
Christina Steyn, PhD Candidate, Translational Neuroscience
Christina is a Wellcome Trust–funded PhD student in Translational Neuroscience. Her research explores whether people with mental illness have altered patterns of metabolism, including differences in the rhythmicity of metabolic processes due to circadian or menstrual cycle-related changes.
